The foundation of a happy and healthy lifestyle starts with a positive morning routine. I do everything I can to set a great tone for my day by focusing on my mind and body.

When I first wake up, I try not to reach for my phone immediately and pause for a silent moment of reflection. I've found that alarms are almost traumatizing and can start my day off on a hectic note, so I never use one. Waking up to the sun is more my vibe.

Take a peek inside my morning routine below to learn how I start my day off right:

7:00 am: Pray

If Sir is up, we will bring him in our room to join in on the morning prayer.

It's essential to me to express gratitude for God's blessings and ask for health and happiness for my family. The first thing Sam and I do each morning is hold hands and pray. I like to do this before we even get out of bed, check our devices, or let our minds run down a mental checklist for the day.

If Sir is up, we will bring him in our room to join in on the morning prayer. Religion and spiritual status aside, it really fills up my soul to take a moment to reflect and set a positive tone for the day ahead.

7:10 am: Skin Care Routine

Before starting my day, it is important that I show up for myself. I do this by sticking to a morning skincare routine that makes me feel refreshed and renewed. It's my way of filling up my cup so I can show up my whole self for my family.

7:30 am: Ginger Tea

Ginger tea is my wellness staple that I drink every day for a dose of nutrients. It's full of organic, immune-boosting ingredients like turmeric and ginger. It makes for a great (and natural) way to awaken your system, so it's perfect in the morning. While I was nursing, I would religiously drink Mother's Milk Tea made from fennel seeds. It was a great way to promote a healthy lactation journey for me throughout those 12 months of breastfeeding.

8:40 am: Journal

Both Sam and I practice this every morning individually to keep us focused on our goals and express gratitude. While I sip my ginger tea and eat breakfast, I take this time to journal my morning thoughts and reflection. This practice helps me set out my intentions for the day and reflect on the previous day.

9:00 am: Clean-up + Podcast

After Breakfast, Sam spends time with Sir, typically cleaning him up while I clean up our breakfast station. I'll have my headphones in listening to either a podcast or an Audible book during this time. Currently, I'm reading Summer on the Bluffs by Sunny Hostin, and I am hooked!

9:45 am: Workout

Exercise gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy – it's almost like a form of meditation or therapy. I try to carve out time for a workout six days a week. It's essential for making me feel balanced, happy, and confident. I really try to listen to my body for what type of workout I need, and I alternate between Weight Training and Pilates depending on my vibe that day. Having two different workout methods helps me stay engaged, so I don't get bored. I'll do a quick set of at-home exercises if I'm short on time.

11:00 am: Morning Shake

My post-workout tradition is always the same. I prep and drink my go-to avocado shake like clockwork. You can find the recipe here.

Now that you've learned my morning routine stay tuned for a later post on how I end each day.
